The Lucky Envelope Hunt
Folk verses, proverbs and red couplets: a Tet word game for the party table.

About
On the first morning of Tet, the calligraphy master at the end of the street has hidden the Spring Fortune behind five puzzles. Each party table sets out to collect as much fortune as it can.
The hunt runs on GoQuest, TeamTika’s team game app, with each table sharing a phone or tablet. Five rounds hold the puzzles: Tet Folk Verses, New Year Proverbs, Word and Number Riddles, Red Couplets and Opening the Envelope. There are 20 multiple-choice questions plus 5 table activities, from reciting a verse and acting out a proverb to spelling 2027 with chopsticks and writing the table’s own couplet.
The table that gathers the most fortune wins the organisers’ lucky envelope, with the race shown live on the big screen.
It is a playful way to bring Vietnamese language and Tet customs into a year-end party.
Learning outcomes
Every question can be answered only once, and a wrong answer shows the right one straight away. Tables quickly learn to pool what everyone knows and agree before they tap, which is a small, fun lesson in deciding together.
Questions come in easy, medium and hard, worth 40, 60 and 80 points, so tables also have to judge when to trust a quick guess and when to talk it through.
The five table activities, photos, songs and short videos, get the whole table laughing together between courses and give quieter guests an easy way in.
Guests leave knowing more about Vietnamese proverbs, couplets and lucky money customs, with a shared story from the evening.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can take part?
Each party table plays as one team on a shared phone or tablet, with up to 30 tables per event. Players join in the phone browser with a game code, so there is nothing to install.
How long does the program take?
About an hour of play, plus a short briefing at the start and the leaderboard reveal at the end.
Is it only for Vietnamese speakers?
The Vietnamese version is richest in wordplay, but there is a full English version that explains each verse and custom, so mixed tables can play together.
Do guests need to leave their tables?
No. Every question and activity is played right at the party table, so the game fits neatly between dinner courses and stage performances.
Is the game available in Vietnamese?
Yes. The Lucky Envelope Hunt has full English and Vietnamese versions, and we set the language for each event.
